10 DAYS AWAY

the nothing4‘The End of The Beginning’ by Zoolon

In a few hours’ time my acoustic and me are off to the middle of nowhere for 10 days. No internet access unless I can manage to take my mobile into a town or city. How surreal is that? No social media.

Also, it maybe the last time I get to have free movement across European borders. Soon the nasty UK brigade will ruin everything.  Anyway, I’m sorry to be missing your posts for those 10 days.

For now, a few random bits and pieces you might enjoy. First, my most popular song if stats are anything to go by ‘Sunlight & The Dust’

Although I ought to add that  ‘Devils Kiss’  featuring a duet with Fifi Rong is catching up at a rate of knots.

Next, a vid from two years back of me mucking about with guitars;

Lastly, a piece of classical music electronic style called ‘Barbed Wire’. It reminds me of ‘borders’;

Keep safe; see you soon ~ Zoolon aka George

NO ROOMS, NO ROOF

tv3‘The Allegory of The Night’ by Zoolon

A new lyric about an important subject. It’s themed on the homeless crisis in the UK that’s getting worse every day. The song is near the recording stage, but for now here’s just the raw words – not a poem, I stress – I’m still playing around with.

JUST AROUND THE CORNER

In the underpass of squalor, a starving babe

Wrapped up in this alleged great Union’s flag

Mother’s got no money, no place she can call home

She keeps her kid warm, takes another drag

Dad’s out fixing up somewhere

Any old place, he don’t care

He cracks a joke, snorts more coke

Says life’s unfair

They’re just around the corner

I think that I should warn yer

They’re just around the corner from here

A made redundant teacher, an old defrocked sicko preacher

Some feral kid lost and running free

An old man who deserves better, a discarded used French letter

A long forgotten war zone amputee

In the underpass of sorrow

They’ll all be back tomorrow

While we just turn a blind eye

You and me

They’re just around the corner

I think that I should warn yer

They’re just around the corner from here

“Whatever makes them tick is not our problem”

“We don’t give a shit that they’re lonesome”

“Whatever makes them like it not down to us”

Really? Did I really hear you say that?

You’d give more sympathy to a stray cat

So you’d rather stuff your fat face than make a fuss?

It’s good that I don’t know yer

So good that I don’t know yer

‘Cause if I did I’d make you disappear

They’re just around the corner

I think that I should warn yer

They’re just around the corner from here

Some music, an instrumental that hopefully fits the mood of today’s post, ‘Time Out’ from my Dream Rescuer album;

On the subject of homelessness, the great American lyricist, Paul Simon, says it much better than me. By the way there’s some magic artwork on this vid;

‘THE PIGEONS ARE SWITZERLAND’

Zoolon’s brand new five track EP was released earlier today.

For this collection of mixed genre songs, I have brought together three lyrical pieces, an instrumental as well as a piece of pure sound art, the latter being the title track, ‘The Pigeons Are Switzerland’. There’s a long story behind that title I’ll share one day.

The opening track ‘Tick Tock’ is a song primarily about violence. It’s followed by my reflective tribute song ‘Francesca’ named after the sublime photographic artist Francesca Woodman who committed suicide in the winter of 1981, aged just 22 years. Her tribute continues with the instrumental ‘Eastside 1981’, a eulogy. ‘What Remains’ is a number about life in general. Lastly, ‘The Pigeons Are Switzerland’, echoes in ‘sound art’ the concept of neutrality.

You can listen to, or buy the easy to download EP at Bandcamp. Included in the download is a PNG file of the lyrics. Enjoy ~ Zoolon

Also, for a heavily discounted price you can buy – if the idea appeals to you – my whole discography from Bandcamp at ZOOLON’S DISCOGRAPHY
