A POEM BECOMES A LYRIC

Here’s a track from my new album, ‘Dream Rescuer’. The song is called ‘Sunlight & The Dust” and is adapted from a poem by my father, Mike Steeden.  I’ve never used the words of others when composing before, yet I thought this poem would not find the journey to the Land of Lyrics too troublesome. I hope you like it. The album itself you can find on Bandcamp, where you can listen for free, yet if you find you like what you hear, then the option to buy is available.

ZOOLON’S & THE ‘TO-DO’ APP

george folkestone (2)

(me, moments before I remembered I suffer from vertigo)

I’ve had this TASK ‘to-do’s’ App on my phone for ages. I’m not sure why I’ve got it because most times I forget it exists. The thing is, lately I’ve been so busy I thought I might as well give it a second chance. So, last week I made a list of things ‘to-do’. It read (more or less);

Finish updating the Zoolon Audio website – urgent

Finish the mixing of the new album – urgent

Produce the new Field Sounds Sample Pack – quite urgent

Check the front tyre pressure, driver’s side of motor – boring

Plus, a few other bits of business type things. Then;

Remember to put the Marmite in the cupboard, not the fridge

Remember to eat

Try not to tread on the snails by the back step

Check for spiders in the studio

Remember to flush the loo

I thought it a perfectly reasonable list. Sensible even – insofar as I do ‘sensible’.  So, how come I get an unintentional ‘fall on the floor hysterical’ laugh when someone got hold of my phone and read my list?  I can’t see anything odd about it. I prefer dogs, cats and Brian the Sparrow to people generally.

I’ve still got to check the tyre pressure.

By the way, should you want to check out the new album, ‘Dream Rescuer’ released a couple of days ago you’ll find it at Bandcamp. You can listen or buy there – no hard, horrible sales pressure or anything like that. Here’s the link;

dream rescuer album 2

My new album ‘Dream Rescuer’ has just this minute been published on Bandcamp.

You can listen to; even purchase if you wish (the price is just £6 including the dreaded, yet unavoidable VAT) by following the link below;

I know this post is unashamed marketing, but if you do visit and like what you hear, then a review would be appreciated.  Also, if you feel able a ‘follow’ me on Bandcamp would be a massive help.

DREAM RESCUER

dream rescuer album 2

I’ve not had much time to think random thoughts, or even have a chat with my mate Brian the Sparrow lately, but at last the new Zoolon album is done.  It’s the strangest feeling to have completed it – part pleased; part relieved; part empty. The thing is – and I’m sure you writer’s out there must feel the same when all your words are written – nothing feels for ‘real’, whether it’s living thing or an inanimate object, until it has an identity of its own. Now that the project has a name to go by, ‘Dream Rescuer’ and a coat to wear, in the form of the cover art, I feel it’s dressed and can be let outside on its own without feeling embarrassed.  All it’s waiting for now is its short bio to appear in the form of the album notes and a few other boring bits – so boring I won’t mention them – to be put to bed and a ‘very near future’ release date can be fixed.

It was odd that the title track arrived so late in the day. Anyhow, for now though, the opening verse from that title track ‘Dream Rescuer’;

‘You rescued dreams and nightmares schemes,

Spinning around inside your head,

You kept them in your diary,

A book you said you never read……….’
