Hiding away where no one can find you is so much better than living out a pandemic locked away in a no man’s land where everyone thinks they ‘absolutely‘ must scores moral points.
The old blind lady knew that. She’d lived through wars and famine and years of the hatred of people like her, who knew stuff but couldn’t see a thing.
In the supermarket the woman on the checkout who sighed a lot told the old lady that light-bulbs weren’t essential items for blind people in lockdown. She said, “You must know you’re only allowed to buy essentials these days.”
The old lady put it to the woman who sighed a lot, that her Guide Dog could see and that was why she wanted a light-bulb. Request denied, the old lady wandered off home.
On Guy Fawkes night the explosions of fireworks scared the life out of all the dogs, cats and confused bats in the neighborhood. The woman on the checkout who sighed a lot had agreed with all her customers that fireworks were essentials.

Thanks. This one isn’t true, but I wrote it based on an āessentialā row in a shop during the first lockdown. I read that a girl went into a national chemist come toothpaste+ shop. She gets to the checkout with her shopping that included a lipstick. The bossy woman on the checkout told her that the lipstick wasnāt essential. The bossy woman, in my view, was playing god. Thanks again ~ George

Who would have a thought a checkout girl could wield such power and be so damn small sighted, less sight actually then the blind lady.

I wish that were true. All we will do is trade one idiot for another one. We have a neverending parade of idiots in DC. We have the same at state level, too. *sigh*

At least the one you’ve just got rid of – hopefully – will mean the rest of the world sleep easier, plus, as is the case across most of the world, the US will no longer be seen as the laughing stock he made of his own country. America and it’s proper people deserve so much more. A good point you raise though. Most politician here are in for it for just themselves ~ George

Honestly, I could care less what “other” countries think of my country. Government types are the same all over the world. There are plenty of complaints on Trudeau, Merkel, Johnson, Xinping, Putin, Macron, Jong-Un, Morrison…on and on and on… And, if anyone thinks that a changing of the guard, here, will somehow make the US “look better” or “act better” is a fool. Heads of state come and go. Those in the background…continue…untouched. Look up The Five Eyes. These people operate outside of governmental control.

Thanks. I think Iām more or less with you on this one. To me, itās just this time around itās been a whole lot worse than usual. Your outgoing President and our Prime Minister are both at the top of the stupidity scale. I agree, āHeads of state come and goā but rarely have our nations had to suffer such social divisions caused by two self-serving, out and out, f-wits. Thanks for your input. Much appreciated ~ George

They are ALL self-serving, sweetie. And, Trump isn’t outgoing, yet. My state was just called for him and massive, multiple lawsuits have been filed over all the voting fraud. The MEDIA called Biden. The Electoral votes have NOT been called. Some states are in trouble for re-writing election laws when they can’t legally do that. Plus, we have dead people voting. We’ve got observers that were blocked from observing counts. Illegal. We have voting software that is shifting votes. Illegal. Our US Supreme Court may ultimately decide this one, just like in 2000.
I didn’t vote in 2016. I didn’t like Trump (still don’t) but, I sure as hell wasn’t going to vote for HRC. The Clintons just need to go far, far away. This go ’round, I was talked into voting by my SO. It sure wasn’t going to be Biden. The man can’t string two sentences together (early dementia), he’s a racist (you didn’t grow up listening to him like I did) and the crime family he’s run, with his crack-head son, makes Trump look like a boy scout. Plus, Trump won’t make mask wearing mandatory nationwide nor will he force anyone to take a vaccine. Biden will. It’s a lesser of two evils in this country and, even though I do not like Trump, I hate voter fraud and the lame-stream-media trying to decide for the country.
This country has always suffered “social divisions.” The first major one brought on the Revolutionary War. Half of our population remained loyal to the crown. Our Civil War brought secession and brother against brother. There were social divisions in WWI, 19th Amendment, WWII, Vietnam (where the lame-stream-media, in particular Cronkite, put dead bodies in everyone’s face every night), Civil Rights Act, ERA, WMDs (what a lie that was)… Trump didn’t invent “social divisions.” The lame-stream-media did (i.e. the five people that own all of the media on the planet). Don’t believe everything your TV or radio tells you.
Eh. I’m done. Thanks for reading…or even posting my comment.

I really don’t understand this ‘essentials only’ thing. If you need it, surely that is essential for you? And you’re in the shop anyway. Seems crazy to me…

You are very welcome. I mind that story of the chemist and the lippie. Been way too many folk like that about during this. We were away one weekend in Glencoe and this twat of a barman got onto this guy we knew who had stopped by the table to say hello, wearing a mask as told. He only onto the top liver specialist in Scotland, bloody idiot. Running about enforcing every rule going, ‘not in the same household’ like some damned fascist, the joke being that guy was out hil walking with another ten top consultants and specialists. They were all at one table. Obvi never struck that compete bellend that THAT would have been a very odd household.

JGC, this short story is wonderful, absurdity at its best! Your words say it all, heartbreaking. An interesting spin, the self-empowered essential worker determining what is non-essential for the customer. The ultimate addiction: power. Karma’s screaming and ready to be set free! Great photos of the sea and the chemtrails, perfect music as well. Enjoy the rest of the day, best you can. ~ PM

Iāve been thinking lockdown thoughts, PM. This post was all about lipstick as I mentioned to other people who have commented. It was based on the true story of the girl who went into a chemist/products shop national franchise who, when she got to the checkout with her load of shopping that included a lipstick was told by a bossy woman on the checkout that lipstick wasnāt essential. Iām sure the lipstick was essential to the girl, and even if it wasnāt, why did bossy lady get involved? Who cares. My lockdown thoughts are telling me to be the god of all things for a while. Iām not sure how Iād manage that, but my biggest problem with it is believing in myself when I already donāt believe in anything, and dealing with loads of prayers no one, let alone me, could ever make true. This is how dull my mind has shrunken to. Have a great day ~ JGC

JGC, this is turning into the unbearable. Itās dividing individuals into two categories, driving people to show their true colors, they are unmasking themselves. Human nature can be so cruel and sickening. The lipstick represents a drugstore clerkās power binge, image the power to say ānoā and take away a little bit of pleasure from another. We all know itās not the lipstick, itās just meanness. I canāt stand it. It feels like the box cars are coming get us when you see things like that. Please donāt allow creativity (I believe it comes in all forms) to die, thatās when they win. Fight back, little by little, even if itās one line a day. Have a good Wednesday. ~ PM

Thanks, PM. I agree +100. In the gym today, on Spotify I heard an acoustic version of a Paul Simon number that somehow felt like itās made for him having his own take on those who would be god. Iāve always liked Simonās work. YouTube doesnāt have the same acoustic version as Spotify ā Iām on Spotify as well, by the way, if you ever get desperate for dying music, the sound quality there is top notch – here it is, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7Fj9WLsisE
I guess you know the number, but after a new listen will see what I mean. Enjoy your day ~ JGC

You’re always welcome, JGC. Thank you for your reply. Perfect bit of music, I listened to ‘The Sound of Silence’ several times throughout the day. I do know the number, yet I listened to it with a different set of ears and eyes today, yes eyes too. You can’t have a blind eye to what is happening to the individual, example: the lipstick girl. I never thought the line between justice and injustice would be so blurred. I suppose I’m naĆÆve, that’s okay, I’d rather feel the discomfort of what is happening all around me, than act as though is doesn’t exist. Please excuse me and I offer my apologies for my state of mind, dark as it is. Please have a good Thursday. ~ PM

Thanks, PM. Lipstick girl, without knowing it ā at first; at least; maybe now ā sheād been through whatever all the ancient Greek philosophers ā have I been reading about the Greeks a lot this year ā would have died for. That acoustic, Paul Simon only take, on The Sound of Silence is something else. I think itās the way he used his voice. Loads of genuine passion, no fancy stuff. I read/heard ā heard I think – a while back it was one of his early songs written straight after the assassination of President Kennedy. Lipstick girl had her simple wish erased by a miserable old bag; Kennedy got erased by a bullet. Sick world either way. Iām glad you like the song, PM. Enjoy you day ~ JGC
