(a pic I once took with my now dead iPhone)
Until I dropped it and watched it die, I never realized that my iPhone was my external brain drive. It stored all the things my brain never got to handle or know about. I tried to resuscitate it. No luck. Dead iPhone.
Then the strangest thing. Obviously, I had to get a new one. It was early morning when I left for the phone shop in town. The pain was it was so cold outside, the temperature +2, costing in the wind chill factor -4. So, I got dressed for the occasion, Arsenal beanie, hoodie hood up style. Everyone I passed on the way down town was wrapped up as warm they could, except for a middle-aged, bit overweight bloke with a 100% totally bald head walking ahead of me. The cold didn’t seem to bother him. He had a t-shirt on. Jesus, just a t-shirt – well trousers as well obviously. Anyhow, we get to the High Street, him still ahead of me. When he gets there, he goes into the barbers. As I passed the barbers the bloke was sat in the chair ready for the haircut to start, and the barber stood behind him holding a pair of scissors in his hand looking bewildered. What was that all about? Surreal.
Anyway, I don’t think this one has had an airing recently. It’s the title track from my ‘Dream Rescuer’ album. First the lyrics, then below the music.
DREAM RESCUER
You rescued dreams
And nightmare schemes
Spinning around inside your head
You kept them in your diary
A book you said you never read
Come morning
Come daylight
You’re lost in time
A dream you dared to dream
Come morning
Come daylight
You’re lost this time
I hope I said goodbye
You rescued dreams
And nightmare schemes
Spinning around inside my head
Pressed Petals
And four-leaf clovers
Turning the pages
Of wild illusions
I am a great fan of the creative perfectionist Lana Del Ray. I think her work, musically, lyrically and visibly is amazing. I got sent this link of Lana and Adam Cohen (son of Leonard) the pair of them covering a Leonard number, ‘Chelsea Hotel’. It’s better than good;

Lady Yasmin, the elephant head was just an example of what my deceased iPhone could do. I haven’t given my new one a name yet. It’s certainly a clever phone but it hasn’t got the feel of Derek the iPhone just yet.

It is. Lana has to be the best, most artistically talented artist, male, female there is on the planet right now.

Thanks, Shey. Someone else said the same thing about ‘likes’ yesterday. Can I ask what was the problem. I’m paying WP good money for this website. The least they could do is get it right.

It could be my net Lord George. The signal I am squirrelled away in the attic sitting room a good bit form the router. I see it has worked now. But there’s probs with WP at the mo. Not loading the reader etc. They seem to come and to in spates.

Thanks. I’ve got some issues with them. People also ask me why they can’t reblog my stuff. I check with WP and they say as it’s a business website, no unauthorized people can have access to it! A stupid reason when other bloggers have access to comment etc. And yes, not loading the reader is common and I don’t think it’s a router/signal issue, especially given the odd times of day it happens. I wish I could get phone contact with them.

The iPhone is our external brain, really! And the picture is awesome!

Thanks, Silent Hour. Both your forename and surname work well! The pic was at an event in The Ardennes I went to. It was weird, but good.

Good point. I hadn’t thought of that. But now that I have (because of your cleverness), say it was hair beyond the nostril, not the inner ear. That takes us into the realm of science fiction. I think he may have been an alien. The cold didn’t seem to bother him.

I think this was a wake up call to fill up your internal brain!

Thank you, Cathy. My internal brain doesn’t work so good. Colour blind and dyslexic – I’m not trying to seek sympathy here, not at all, I’m cool with it – is all my brain gave me, well that and the ability to breath – I only realised what I’d lost when my beloved iPhone died.

Ha! Now if only the bald man had gone to your bald barber…
I had a friend who would walk down the sidewalk between snowdrifts in Birkenstock sandals and shorts all winter long. Is resistance to cold a superpower?
Lovely piece of music- It’s nice to take time to hear more of you work.
Lana del Rey’s voice is spectacular 🙂

Thank you, Anne. I wrote a song called All Winter Long. Maybe I should have given your friend a verse of his own. I like the concept of a superpower that means you don’t feel the cold. He could rush in and save thousand about to die from hypothermia!

I’m a sucker for capturing nature, which can never last, but in our efforts to preserve it there is often that last trace of color…at least that’s what happens when I press flowers.
And PS–Wisconsin’s got those same kind of crazies. Who’s walking around in sandals and shorts when it’s below 0? Gaaaah!

If possible, please ask the barber if the customer was intoxicated.

A difficult one that is. He’s the same barber I went to months ago when my usual one was on the missing list. He’s u/s. I think I wrote a blog about that haircut and how street cred issues caused me to lock myself indoors.
